Attaching a Bike Tow Rope
The Tow Whee Bike Tow Rope is used to tow a child or an adult on a trailing bike. It provides a safe and smooth towing experience.
Welcome. A Bike Tow Rope is a fantastic solution for taking kids places they may struggle to go. Ideal for smoothly and safely assisting them up hills, over distances, through windy conditions or just to keep up with older siblings. It is lightweight and compact making it an easy to carry item. A Bike Tow Rope can attach to ALL bikes
The Tow Whee Tow Rope attaches to a lead bike and a trailing bike.
The LEAD bike most commonly attaches to the nose of their saddle/seat
The TRAILING bike can be attached by either of the following 2 ways.
Using the Tow Rope Only – Simply placed around the handlebar stem and looped through itself.
Using the Quick Loop with Carabiner (an accessory product sold separately.)
Safely and Successfully Attaching your Bike Tow Rope
goRide recommends you follow the instructions of the manufacturer in attaching your Tow Rope.
Here are some goRide Tips to support you.. Though there is no set up required or permanent attachment to either the lead or the trailing bike it is a good idea just to practise attachment of the Tow Rope while at home before you take the Tow Rope out on your first ride.
Before you start: Get what you need – the lead bike, trailing bike, the Tow Rope and Quick Loop ( if your purchased one). Attachment of the Tow Rope requires no tools
Attaching to the Trailing Bike
How you attach to the Trailing Bike will be depend on whether you purchased the Quick Loop accessory.
Without the Quick Loop Place the tow rope around the handlebar stem of the trailing bike. Open one of the loops and thread the opposite end completely through the loop. The tow rope has two identical ends so it does not matter which end you choose.
With the Quick loop The Quick Loop provides a more simple way to repetitively attach and detach from the trailing bike. If you are likely to repetitively use the Tow Rope during a ride then this accessory (sold separately or part of a goRide Tow Rope and Carabiner Combo) is a good investment
There are two ways to attach the Quick Loop to the trailing bike.
Method One: as a loop around the handlebar stem with both ends within the carabiner or Method Two : Remove the carabiner. Place the Quick Loop around the handlebar stem. Open one of the loops and thread the opposite end completely through the loop. Attach the carabiner to the Tow Rope This method is commonly used when you choose to wear the Tow Rope on your body during a ride (as the carabiner is required)
Attaching to the Lead Bike
Lead Bike – Take the free end and place it onto a secure structure on the lead bike. Most people choose to open the loop and put it around the nose of their saddle/seat. Do this from underneath the seat so that the rope does not get caught when you sit on your bike seat.
