Bike goUnders – Padded Bike Underwear 

What are padded bike underwear? We call our padded bike undies Bike goUnders because they go under your riding clothing. Our Bike goUnders are performance underwear to be worn when you ride a bike to help with bike seat comfort. They have high quality Italian made bike padding (a chamois) sewn into them. This padding is meant to be worn against your skin and will sit between your body and your bike seat to provide cushioning and protection.

How do you use padded bike underwear? These become the underwear you bike in and are worn next to your skin. Choose to wear what you want over them – feel great in clothing that will move with you while you’re riding and reflects the environment or weather you will be riding in or to.

Are padded bike underwear comfortable? Yes, these are performance level underwear thoughtfully designed to be comfortable on a bike. Care has been taken in the shape around your upper leg so that the bike underwear does not dig in or chaff while you are pedaling. Care has also been taken with the placement of the padding so that it connects really well with your body exactly where it is needed. All the fabrics used will stretch and breathe keeping you comfortable and dry which is really important while you work on a bike.

Will padded bike undies be better than traditional lycra bike shorts? Yes they can be because they give you greater flexibility in what you can wear when you ride. Bike goUnders can be worn all year around for every type of ride or weather situation you are dealing with – they can be worn with summer shorts or winter tights! They are also a really great price for all that they give you.

Who are Bike goUnders made for? Our range of Bike goUnders has been steadily growing since 2017 when we started with Kids Bike goUnders. We now have options for every rider to try – Women, Men, Youth & Kids. For women we have developed several different styles of underwear so you can find a Bike goUnder that suits your body shape. We go up to a women’s size 22 and a mens 3XL.

Will Bike goUnders work for me? Our range now includes something for any type of bike rider. For both Women & Men we have developed bike padding choice and fabric choice. These choices reflect the different levels of riding you may do from Recreation to Endurance to Endurance+. Our padding range also includes ‘Specific Comfort’ padding choices which will help you achieve the best possible comfort for your body or riding needs. For example we have Active Endurance padding for women which really suits mountain bike riders, our Spin Class specific bike padding is a great high intensity indoor workout option, we have wide cut outs or tapering density to help with prostate or genital compression issues. We are working hard to have what YOUR BODY needs.

Bike Saddles – Why is my bike saddle so uncomfortable?

Will my bike seat eventually be comfortable? Often the saddle that comes on your bike is not the right one for your body. Why is this? There are so many different saddles and bike manufacturers are more focused on the actual bike than the saddle they put on at the end. It is very common for bike riders to have to change the saddle that comes with their bike. If you can not sit for very long on your seat without wriggling around it is a sign you need to change. If after trying for a few months to get “used” to your seat it is still uncomfortable it is a sign you need help. Bike Seat Comfort is a complex topic dependant on several things. How do you choose the right bike saddle? There are a few important things to know about bike saddles or seats. They are designed for different purposes and for different genders which influences the shape of the seat. One key thing to know is the width of your own pelvic bones, this will help you work out the width of seat you need to have a good supportive platform to sit on. This is a very important start to achieving the comfort you need to ride over distance.

What is the best bike saddle for a women? Unfortunately this is not an easy question to answer. It is dependent on several things

• the type of bike you are riding on and what body position this puts you in
• your gender and the width of your sit bones
• where you ride and for how long you do this riding (recreation, endurance to performance level riding).

Sizing – How do I get the right size at goRide?

How do I know what size to order? Will the Bike goUnders or Movement Clothing for Biking fit me? To get the most out of your bike clothing you must have the right size. We have worked really hard on our sizing guides that we believe are accurate for most people. At goRide we have a really low exchange and return rate. Most of the time our size guides get it right so please use them. Look out for the tape measure symbol found on all our sized products.

Why is women’s bike clothing so small? Most of the international companies that manufacture bike clothing for women are making slim fit garments that match to athletic body shapes up to a NZ size 14. In NZ all sorts of women ride bikes so this bike clothing is usually too small. The movement clothing for biking made at LiveLifeMove, for goRide, is designed to be comfortable, stylish and flattering for all shapes, sizes and ages so active, moving women can look and feel great biking, walking, at home or however you want to move and live. Our women’s size range is 8 to 22.

Is goRide Bike Clothing made in New Zealand?

Where does the bike clothing at goRide come from? Our womens bike clothing range is mainly supplied to us by LiveLifeMove – a company we created to solve the problem of bike clothing size & choice. Not all women want to ride a bike in tight black lycra. LiveLifeMove designs and manufacturers in Nelson, New Zealand.

What is so good about supporting NZ Made? Being NZ Made means we have close control and oversight of our manufacturing processes. We can produce in small batches which greatly reduces textile waste. We know the garments we make are durable, long lasting and of high quality. When you buy NZ Made you are supporting a workforce that is being paid correctly for the skills they have, in work environments that are regulated and healthy.

Is goRide a good business to deal with?

When will I get my order from goRide? We are processing orders every day from Monday to Friday. Most of our parcels will go overnight for delivery the following day – rural can take 2-3 days depending on your local provider. Most of our distribution is based in Nelson – some larger items will be sent from Auckland. If you have time pressure please get in contact with us.

Can I return items to goRide? You have 30 days from the day of your order to return or exchange unwanted goods. goRide has one free exchange for sized clothing or sized bike gear. Refunds are available for items in their original condition with all original packaging. A small return shipping and processing fee will be charged, currently this fee is $8.

How can I get in contact with goRide? We are a small online only business based in Nelson, NZ.
