Support your child to develop their biking and motor skills.
Ride a Balance Bike – Suitable for kids 18 months through to 4/5 years
SMILE when you ride
Welcome, a Balance Bike is an amazing tool to support an 18 month to 4/5 year old child to develop their biking and motor skills. Starting your child’s riding journey with riding a Balance Bike gives them the skills they need to easily transition to riding a pedal bike.
The potential and future of your child starts with a foundation of movement.
Balance Bike Riding
We love balance bikes. goRide recommends that you start your child’s learn to ride journey on a balance bike. Balance bikes are suitable for approximately 2-4/5 year olds. Some kids can start a little younger and others will continue to enjoy riding their balance bike well beyond 4 years.
A balance bike is designed specifically to assist your child with learning to “balance” when on two wheels. This is the most important skill you need to develop before you can ride a pedal bike. Features of a balance bike (they are lighter, have no pedals and a low centre point) make it easier for your child to learn the skill of balance. Usually if they can learn to ride a balance bike it is an easy and enjoyable transition to a pedal bike. Riding a Balance Bike offers a young child a fantastic way to develop their motor, sensory and cognitive skills.Â

- Can they fit into a Bike Helmet and are they happy to keep it on their head?
