SMILE when you ride
Comfort of your upper back, shoulders, arms and hands and their connection with the handlebars is important to your riding enjoyment though it is often over looked. Improving your connection with the handlebars, and how you ride will assist with reducing upper body, shoulder, arm and hand discomfort, improve your breathing and help you to ride further. We encourage you to work through the solutions below so you can work towards finding upper body comfort when you ride. If you need additional support please get in contact with us to discuss your issue further.
Discomfort in your upper body comes on when you
- increase your riding time, how often you ride or if you are riding more challenging terrain
- have worn out grips
- if you are new to riding or returning to riding after a break
- if your body has a structural issue eg: reduced flexibility/movement
Comfort on your upper body can be achieved but how that is achieved will often be different for every rider.
Ride with grips & glovesÂ
When we ride we have a lot of pressure and vibration being absorbed through our hands, arms shoulders and upper body.
To help reduce this pressure and vibration as well as support a good connection between your hand and the handlebars it is important that we ride with grips and gloves that matches your level riding. You need to change your grip when it wears out as it will no longer be providing the cushioning you need. goRide provides a range of grips and gloves for different riding levels.
If you suffer from discomfort in the upper body arms or hands then goRide advises that you ride with endurance grips and gloves to help cushion the connection no matter what level of riding you do.
