How does it feel to ride with a mid mount seat.

Riding with a Mid Mount Seat will feel different to riding solo.

The mid mount seats  are unharnessed bike seats. As with all bike seats the feel of riding with a child on a  bike seat will be different than riding solo. With the mid mount seat being positioned close to the mid point of the bike the load has less effect on blalnce. However you will have to adjust your riding as having a child positioned in front of you will alter your biking skills.

When do you want to start riding with your child and how long do you want the seat to be used for?

A Mid Mount Seat is a good solution to riding with confident, balanced children from 2yrs of age.  These seats are unharnessed. The maximum weight that a child can be is 22 for the shotgun and  30kg for the Do Little depending on the brand you are using, these weights match to 5-7yr respectively.

To ride with your child on a bike they must be old enough to wear a bike helmet.  The smallest bike helmets on the market will fit a 45cm head circumference.  We recommend using a very light weight helmet with kids this little – please see our recommendation The Toddler Helmet.

Where do you want to ride?

When riding with young children it is recommended to predominantly ride on smooth surfaces. Where you can ride is influenced by your comfort and confidence when riding with your young child.

Where are you comfortable and confident to ride: In Traffic, bike paths, easy trails and possible multiday.

Mid Mount Seats & E-Bikes.

Can the adult rider ride safely with the added challenge of weight and how this will effect balance?  Having two children with you will be challenging.  Think about your fitness, strength and the places you want to ride.  You should be a skilled rider to consider doing this.  An E-Bike will help enormously with your enjoyment of riding with two children.
