Attaching a Rear Frame Mount Seat – Yepp Maxi
Create plenty of family biking memories with the Yepp Maxi Rear Carrier Mount Seat. No bike carrier required.
Welcome. The Frame Mount Rear Bike Seat is a great investment offering a solution to ride with your child for a wide age range. This seat is suitable for a first child seat and will support your family riding right through to when you and your child are ready for the next family riding solution. Very popular with commuting families and regular riders The seat clamps onto a mounting bracket that attached directly to your bike frame. Once the mounting bracket is installed the seat can be attached in seconds. The Frame Mount Kids Bike Seat is safe for 1-6 years old and up to maximum weight of up to 22kg.
Do not use the seat if your child can’t sit upright or is younger than 9 months.  It is against the law in New Zealand to carry a child on a bike if they are not wearing a helmet.
Safely and Successfully Attaching your Rear Kids Bike Seat.
goRide recommends you follow the instructions of the manufacturer when attaching your Frame Mount Rear Kids Bike Seat (Yepp Maxi). goRide has attached this rear seat to a variety of different bikes, we aim to understand and support this experience for you. We know if we have success on the installation then so can you.
The seat comes fully assembled.
Your only task is to attach the adaptor to the base of the seat & mount the clamp onto your bike frame. Please watch the video and see our tips below.
Attaching the Adaptor
Find your adaptor, the arm/profile and the clamp & screws.
Place the seat face down with the bottom facing up. Slide the adaptor into the base and secure.
The lock and opening system is on the end of this adaptor.
This process of needing a key to move the adaptor means the seat is safe and secure – when left unattended. You cannot remove the seat from the arm/profile unless you have a key.

Attaching the arm to your frame
The arm clamps around your seat post tube. It needs to be positioned relatively high on the tube so you can achieve at least a 4cm clearance above your rear wheel.
There are four long screws so this process does take some time.
Position the seat on the arm
Once the clamp is secure you can slide the seat and adaptor into the arm. Spend some time looking at placement and angle of the seat. For good balance on the bike the centre point of the seat (marked with a X where your child sits) should not be more than 10cm behind your rear wheel hub. The closer to the hub the better. Please see the photo.
Adjust the Yepp Maxi Seat to Fit your Child
Foot rest adjustment:  The Yepp Maxi foot rests are easily adjusted by opening the clip at the back of the foot rests and sliding them up or down – dependant on the length of your childs legs. There are set grooves that they slide into and out of so once you have it set at a good height, simply close the clip to secure it.
Shoulder strap adjustment:  Once your child is in the seat close the shoulder harness and adjust the straps for a firm, secure fit.  Take your time and practice opening and closing this 5 point harness system. Â
