Supporting you and your family to SMILE when you ride.

Welcome. The Front Seat – Yepp Mini is suitable for a variety of bikes. This seat comes with the option of 2 different adaptors (mounting brackets) to attach to your bike : a  standard adaptor or a MTB Adaptor to create an attachment option for a mountain bike. This seat is super easy to attach and remove from the adult bike once the Adaptor/Bracket is installed. The Front Kids Seat – Yepp Mini is safe for 1-3 years old and up to 17kg.

You will love riding with you child positioned between your arms for the ultimate in interaction so you can enjoy the ride together.

Where does it attach?

The Yepp Mini is easily mounted using either of the 2 adaptors supplied to near or around the handlebar stem.

  • Standard Adaptor – requires 20mm of space and can be attached to a threaded or threadless stem ( commonly found on mountain bikes) that has sufficient space
  • A Head adaptor – requires 5 mm of space and attaches to a threadless stem ( commonly found on mountain bikes) by removing a spacer from the handlebar stem.  The standard adaptor will not fit on most mountain bikes.

Will it fit your bike?

The Mountain Bike Front Seat is best suited to taller riders and therefore bike frames that are medium or larger.  This seat is a solution for your family if the Adult Bike meets the following criteria.

Adult Bike

2 criteria you do you have the space and a diameter that the adaptors can attach to

1.  You can attach using either the standard to a-head adaptor

  • Standard Adaptor you require 20mm of space
  • A-Head Adaptor you require 5mm exposed space below your handlebar stem to successfully attach the mounting bracket (MTB Adaptor). To gain the space you will have to remove a spacer to expose 5mm of space (see photos).  Your adaptor must be attached to exposed stem, it will not fit over your spacers.

Do your have lots of space? f you are able to remove enough spacers to expose 20mm of space then the standard adaptor may also be an option.

Do your have lots of space? f you are able to remove enough spacers to expose 20mm of space then the standard adaptor may also be an option.

Adaptor/Bracket attached under the handlebar stem on an adult bike needs 5mm of space

Remove the handlebar stem and remove a spacer from the exposed tube (top of your front fork) to create the place the MTB Adaptor sits,

Measure diameter of exposed tube.

Do your have lots of space? f you are able to remove enough spacers to expose 20mm of space then the standard adaptor may also be an option.

2. The design of the MTB Adaptor requires an exposed tube diameter of 28.6mm or less.

Please be aware that the most common diameter on modern bikes is 1&1/8″ = 28.6mm.

There are modern mountain bikes that have tube diameters greater than 28,6mm making them incompatible. Bikes with non tapering forks that create diameters of either 1.25″ = 31.75mm or 1.5″ = 38.1mm

You can measure across your diameter…  To do this you need to take the handlebars and spacers off your bike to expose the tube (the top of your fork), please see photo above…  If this is challenging then Google the brand and model of your bike and check the specifications for Fork Steerer Tube.

Riding Safely – Frame Size

You may be able to successfully mount this Front Seat but can you ride safely?

Due to its position (between your chest and the handlebars) a Front Seat can make mounting a bike, stopping & starting, balance, as well as reaching your handlebars challenging. Please see Riding Safely with a Front Seat.

To give you an indication of the size, and thus the space that the Yepp Mini will take up (35cm length x 40cm height, approximately), please take a good look at the photo.

Features of you bike/set up that will help give you sufficient space

  • The bigger the frame size of your bike the better
  • The more you ride in an upright position
  • if your bike has a dropper seat post. You can drop the seat to mount/dismount your bike

Features of you bike/set up that is likely to limit the space

  • If you ride a bike with a small or extra small frame size you may find it difficult to reach the handlebars around the seat.
  • if you ride in a lean forward position. The forward your position the less space there will be.

In this photo the Yepp Mini is mounted on a large bike frame taking up 35 x 43cm of space.  If you have a  lean forward riding position you may have limited space between you and the seat
