What are Womens Lycra Padded Bike Pants?
Womens Lycra Padded Pants are a 3/4 pant that are a fitted bike specific, below the knee, pant with padding (a chamois) sewn in to provide comfort between you and your bike seat when biking. They are your outer layer however for your comfort you wear them next to your skin (no underwear). Wearing these pants will improve your bike seat comfort and riding enjoyment.
Lycra 3/4 Bike Pant Styles
Two different styles are available
- Casual Style – Womens S to XXL, Youth Girl XS & S
- Endurance Style – Womens S to Large, Youth Girl XS & S
Casual Style – Wide size range with relaxed fit & high waist
Endurance Style – Quick dry, high compression, great for multi day
How to Choose your Lycra 3/4 Bike Pant Style
There are a few things to consider and think about when choosing the style of womens lycra 3/4 padded bike pants that is best for you
- body shape – both styles of 3/4 pant have been designed with a certain body shape in mind, please pay attention to our advice
- your size – the choices you have will be determined by what size you are
- your preferred leg length – both are below the knee but the casual style is longer in the leg
- the type of riding you do – both are designed for achieving comfortable distances on the bike but the Endurance 3/4 Pants are more suited to performance riding.
Style: Casual 3/4 Pant
Size Range: Available in our widest size range women S-XXL , and youth XS-S.
Casual 3/4 Pants are designed for coverage and comfort. They suit curvier bodies or anyone wanting a more relaxed fit riding pant – elastic free waist & leg bands. Ideal for recreation on standard or e-bikes riding in a variety of environments. Can be used through all the seasons.
A Casual Style 3/4 Pant is best suited to:
- curvy shapes, with added weight around the belly
- pear shapes, heavy around upper thighs, hip area
- those who like coverage that is high through the waist
- women sizes S to XXL
- youth sizes XS, S
- inside leg length 45cm
The padding
The Casual Style 3/4 Pants comes with a high performing endurance pad suiting rides from 30 minutes up to 4 hours.
Style: Endurance 3/4 Pant
Size Range: Available in size small – large , also a youth size available.
Endurance 3/4 Pants are designed for coverage and comfort over distances. A high compression garment which means it is very fitting and helps with muscle recovery. Suits riders who cover distance regularly or for multiple days. Elasticated leg hem with below the knee finish. Can be used through all the seasons.
An Endurance Style 3/4 Pant is best suited to:
- regular, hard working, distance riders – 2 hours plus
- those who feel comfortable in a firm and fitting style of pant
- great moisture management with quick dry fabric & perforations in the padding
- women sizes S to L
- youth sizes XS, S
- inside leg length 42cm
The padding
The Endurance Style 3/4 Pants come with a high performing endurance pad with perforations for moisture management suiting rides from 30 minutes to 6 hours.
How to wear your Womens Lycra 3/4 Padded Bike Pants
The padding (chamois) sits directly next to your skin. Do not wear everyday underwear with them. This is important as any additional seams and fabric under your 3/4 pants can cause chaffing and moisture retention and cause issues.
