Why choose to assist your child riding their own bike

What can a tow assist offer your child and your family? The advantages are

  • You do some/most of the work for them
  • You make most/all of the decisions.

Being able to provide a tow assist to your child while they ride their own bike will broaden where you can ride and how far you can ride with your child. As you are making the decisions you can take them into busy environments e.g. traffic that they would otherwise be unsafe in. You can also take them further or on to terrain that they may struggle to bike on their own e.g. up hills.

This provides more riding experiences for families. It can assist families as you negotiate the different ages and capabilities of siblings. It can also provide a greater variety of experiences at an earlier age. Your family is more likely to enjoy the riding experience if you are supporting and challenging each rider at their individual riding level and capability. As well as providing assist when needed to keep everyone happy and biking

What we like about each of the tow assist options.

Tow Rope.

Great value for money as it offers you the ability to assist your child over a wide age range. Light and easy to carry/pack and quick and easy to attach to both the adult and kids bikes giving you the ability to take it with you every time you ride and use it if needed. Offers a safe towing experience with the tow rope providing a smooth tow and no risk of it sagging over the adults rear wheel and the kids front wheel.

Tow Frame.

The low hub to hub connection provides a very stable assist and is our choice for those who want to safely ride in traffic with their young child. It connects the two bikes and makes them effectively become a tandem. Due to its stability you can ride early with a child on their own bike. The child does not need to be a very competent rider as long as they can sit and stay blanced on their own bike you can start to use the tow frame. Great for adults and kids who do not enjoy the lean that some towing options can provide.

Once all components are installed It is quick and easy to attach and detach the the kids bike while out riding,

Tow Bar.

A good cost effective tow option for kids/families that require intermittent towing Good option if you feel they will only need towing for a short age range and short distances.
