Multi-Day Riding & Weather
Be prepared for weather…
Key things to know… the weather at anytime of year can be unpredictable. So over multiple days you need to prepare to encounter different temperatures and all weather conditions heat, cold, wind and rain.
Best way to solve this issue is be aware of the most likely weather you will encounter and then consider the season you are riding in. Different seasons will provide different demands and challenges. Whatever season you are completing your multi-day ride within it is still important to be prepared for all weather conditions. Take gear on your trip that will give you options and provide choice. Be aware of the weather forecast and make riding clothing choices to match. When riding carry additional gear with you that you know will keep you comfortable if the weather changes. If you ride an E-Bike and are using your assistance understand that it may be harder to stay warm in cooler weather so base and mid layers need to provide you with that warmth. Wear and carry gear to match the weather.

Multi-Day Riding & Comfort
Be Comfortable on your Bike Seat & Handlebars
Key things to know… with more time on a bike comes the possibility of more problems at your contact points – bruising, aches & pains. Doing multi days you need to protect your body from these increased ride times. Do you now need endurance level products?
Best way to solve this problem is too add some protection & padding. For bike seat comfort, use padding, have a great seat, and be really aware of your body position and prepare your body. Don’t forget about your comfort on your handlebars, have good grips and have padding with bike gloves. Building up to greater time & distances is really important… so that means doing some training prior to your multi-day ride This makes rest days just as critical as ride days. Also resting or taking mini breaks when you are out riding. We recommend reading both the stories in the link boxes above.
Protect yourself at your main contact points and your riding will be more enjoyable.

Multi-Days & Carrying Gear
What gear to take & how to carry
Key things to know… whether you are going on a supported or on an unsupported bike tour/holiday you will need to carry some gear with you. For supported riding you might be carrying simple gear you need for the day. For unsupported riding you will need all the gear for the duration of your trip.
Best way to prepare for this is to get gear that matches your needs for the type of trip. Those needs will be determined by multiple factors such as the length of your rides each day, how many days, are you being supported by friends, family or a tour company? Or are you riding over consecutive days without any support? Where are you riding and how close to help will you be while riding or at the end of each day? The more remote you are and the less support you have the more important it is that you have everything you need.
Carry gear for your comfort and safety.

Multi-Day Riding & Keeping Safe
What gear to take and how to carry
Key things to know to… support your safety let us cover off a few additional things that may be important to keep you safe and help you enjoy your trip. Have a bike that is working well. If you are riding near or around traffic make sure you are visible and to work well with other bike path users – use a bell. It is always great to be able to get off your bike and enjoy the sights and activities near your ride. If leaving your bike unattended during the day or overnight then you will need a lock.
Best way to prepare for this is to give your bike a really good clean including a thorough clean of your chain. Book it in for a service or have a good look at it yourself. Keeping it clean means it will look good, last longer and work well when you ride. Even if your bike knowledge is basic you can still do things that will have an impact. Consider how to be visible and decide whether a bike bell would be a good addition to your bike as well as a light weight portable lock.
A clean bike works well.
