Trying on your Youth Girls – Boyleg goUnders
Welcome. Thanks for purchasing goUnders by goRide. Let’s get you out riding in your Boyleg goUnders. Read our Quick Guide on how to wear your padded bike underwear so you can feel comfortable and protected every time you wear them on the bike.
Supporting you to SMILE when you ride.
QUICK GUIDE
How to wear your goUnders
When trying on your goUnders for the first time make sure you wear a pair of normal underwear to protect the surface of the chamois.
- Concentrate on the position of 3 key areas of your goUnders, the padding, the leg hem then the waist.
- Work through the positioning in the order outlined.
- Take some time with your first try on to learn how to put your goUnders on correctly.
- Once you understand the correct positions it will be quick and easy to pop them on and head out for a ride.
The Padding (Chamois)
The padding must sit firmly against your body. No dragging or hanging down.
To position place your hands mid front and mid back – lift the chamois up and against your body.
Leg Hem
The hem should sit flat & relatively level around the top of the thigh.
It will be positioned about 1cm down from the inner crutch.
Waistband
With 1 and 2 positioned find the natural height the goUnders waistband will sit on you. It should sit level or horizontal all the way around your body.
How should they feel?
goUnders will feel different to your normal underwear. The stretch of the fabric, the fitting design and the padding makes them feel different to wear. Please check their comfort on you
- Are they firm against you without pinching in or restricting movement?
- Walk, move around, lift your knee, squat down – are they comfortable to wear when you move?
I’m happy with the fit & feel of my goUnders!
Your goUnders are yours to wear against your skin. We recommend washing before wear. They will soften with every wash. Make your first ride in them a short one where you check how they feel on the bike – remember they are your base layer, your bike riding underwear – wear them directly against your skin.
If you are unsure of the fit or feel of your Boyleg goUnders then please work through our more comprehensive fit and size guide below…
COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE
Youth Girls Boyleg Fit and Size Check
It is important that you have positioned your bike underwear correctly and tested how they feel as outlined in the Quick Guide above. If you have completed the Quick Guide and your goUnders still don’t feel right then please work through our Comprehensive Guide.
The Youth Girls Boyleg goUnders are available in youth sizes Small and Medium. As the size range goes up the height of the waistband increases (length of the underwear) and the compression/tightness decreases (fit onto your body). The stretchy fabric does allow for different body shapes so changing size is an option to consider.
If you do need to make a change head to the bottom of the page for help.
Padding (Chamois) Check
Check the feel, position and the level of bulk of your padding
Check the feel of the padding – does it feel like it is being held in place and not moving as you move? It will feel a little odd between your legs but it should not restrict your movement in any way. Your chamois should feel like it is right in under your bottom and stays in this position even when you move.
- The padding is not sitting tucked in under your bottom. The placement of the pad is being effected by your body shape
- large round bottom or upper leg circumference – Try a larger size
- flat bottom – Try a smaller size
- The placement of the pad is being affected by waistband placement, i.e. there is too much fabric/height at the front – Try a smaller size
Check the position of the padding – is the chamois sliding up your back or does it feel like the front of the pad should be further forward? Is it folding at the back where it is wide and getting stuck in your bottom? Is it dragging or hanging anywhere?
- Padding is folding and getting stuck in your bottom. The width of the goUnder is not covering and being anchored under your bottom – Try a larger size
- Dragging or hanging. The idea is to get the right amount of compression/stretchy tightness in the underwear fabric to hold the padding (chamois) in place – Try a smaller size
Check the level of bulk – are you OK with the amount or density of the padding or is it feeling really strange?
- Bulky, uncomfortable pad. The padding in our Boyleg goUnders is the most flexible and should limit the feel of bulk. It may be that you need to adjust to this feeling. The pads will soften with washing and you will get used to the sensation. If you are really struggling you could try our minimal pad (very little bulk) available in both the High Waist and Mid Waist Recreation Brief – Try a different style
Leg Hem Check
Check the feel, position and the flatness of your leg hem
Check the feel of leg hem – not able to move freely without restriction or pulling from seams or hems.
- Tight, restricting movement – Try a larger size
- Rubbing, cutting in on the large tendon at the front inside of your leg. Make sure you have put your goUnders on properly, adjust them by pulling them forward. If they will not stay in this position – Try a larger size
Check the position of the leg hem – is it sitting horizontally? It should be around the top of the thigh about 1 cm down from the crutch (inside thigh) and should fully cover your bottom.
- Hem is not sitting on me where it should. Make sure you have put your goUnders on properly, adjust them. There is a balance between hem and waistband position. Your hem is more important as your pedalling needs to be unrestricted. If they are still not right – Try a different style
- Back hem not covering my bottom – Try a larger size
Check to make sure the hem sits flat.
- If the hem will not sit flat on your body you will need a bigger leg circumference – Try a larger size
Waistband Check
Check the feel, position and that the elastic will sit flat
Check the feel of the waistband – tight and pinching or is it moving around?
- Waistband too tight or pinching in – Try a larger size
- A sliding/moving waistband – Try a smaller size
Check the position of the waistband – is it sitting close to horizontal? It should not be significantly higher at the back and it should not be higher at the sides (smiling).
- High front waistband – Try a smaller size
- High back waistband – Try a larger size
- High sides (a smiling waistband) – Try a larger size
Check to make sure the elastic is flat – has it twisted or folded.
- A twisted or folded elastic should be quickly fixed by stretching the waistband. The elastic is secured at the front and the rear to help prevent twisting. If your elastic continues to do this – Try a larger size
